Vic drove up the long curvy service roadway as far as he could until he came upon a fallen tree obstructing the path. With darkness fast approaching, Vic set off to the cabin on foot, where he figured the lights would not be working on account of witnessing the downed electrical lines. After a few enjoyable uneventful days, Victor was abruptly awakened in the dead of night by a piercing wind. Victor initially felt the noise was the rumbling of his tummy from all the MRE meals he had eaten just before calling it a night and lying down.
The window had been forcibly opened by a strong gust and he could see a heavy snow was falling outside. He quickly sprung from the bed to close the window and tripped over an old chest that sat on a rug in the middle of the room. Victor lay there rattled from the bump he received on his head.
The next sound he heard was his teeth chattering as he came to frozen from head to toe. The whiteness all around him was snowpiles! The injury on his forehead was throbbing and he feared he had injured his ankle when he fell. Somehow despite his frostbite, Vic was able to slam the window on the piling snow. For the remainder of his retreat, he ate the MRE meals, that he felt were fit for a king!
Thankfully, Vic had stockpiled the MRE survival food and he enjoyed every last morsel as his strength returned. Victor was overjoyed at being alive as he made the hike back to civilization.
